James J. Wimsatt joined Harris, Hunt & Derr, P.A. as an associate attorney in July of 2021. He attended law school at Georgetown University Law Center, one of the top law schools in the nation. Throughout law school, the idea of helping people proved paramount and family law became the avenue where James believed he could do just that with the utmost integrity, responsiveness, and professionalism. In practicing family law, James understands that his clients are many times dealing with the most difficult time in their lives and believes that having absolute honesty with clients is essential.
James grew up in Kentucky in a very large family of eight sisters and four brothers. Some of his earliest memories are of his parents instilling within him a sense of responsibility and moral obligation to both family and community. Family has always been a cornerstone of his life. Growing up in a large family helped him learn how to work with differing personalities who often had different plans and different goals. Part of life for James and his family was to always help those that you could. His parents always believed in that philosophy and he tries in his daily life to emulate the example of his mother and father's absolute devotion to their community and family.
